A new year and a new approach

It’s something I’ve been considering for a few weeks, but I finally decided to float the concept with Clare, and it’s suitable for family consumption, and here it is…

We write down the environmental and ethical values we consider to reflect our lives. I’ve was informed that this is a Personal Social Responsibility (PSR) plan, apparently.

I suspect that this may be construed as a little anal, but if we actually have to write something we’ll have to ask explicit questions like:

• What should we be doing?
• Why do we believe in these things?
• Will we achieve what we expect?
• Do our actual actions reflect these stated beliefs?

I suspect we’ll discover some uncomfortable facts about the reality of our past actions. We may have to change the way we do things in the future, but I hope it’ll give us a framework for these decisions.
